The funniest thing about haters is that they’re still technically fans. Just very committed ones.

VICKY @vic.torious
I’ve been described as a ‘heartless villain’ and a 'little shit’, but I prefer… 'has alternative ways of having fun’

Friday evening in Seattle. For Estelle Hale that meant only one thing: ice hockey. She loved the fast checks and hard tackles, but what she loved about it most was her brother Callum. She’d been looking forward to the Kraken’s home game for the past four days, especially because she hadn’t been able to attend the last two home games due to her therapy. So, for the past weeks, supporting Callum had only taken place from afar, which, for young Estelle Hale, basically felt like the end of the world.

She yearned for the familiar sound of blades scraping across the ice, the glittering of the dust swirled up at every sharp brake, and even that particular NHL arena smell – a mix of greasy food, popcorn and nachos. And there was something – someone – else Estelle associated with the Kraken’s arena, or rather three people.

But today she was focused on one person only – Olivia Haley Preston, the Kraken’s social media manager. Olivia had been a part of the Kraken for two and a half years and for at least that long Estelle could rely on the fact that during home games, they would look at each other for at least one third. Olivia’s newest social media post had even been about Callum. Estelle had skimmed it before leaving for the stadium. After she spotted the blonde social media manager in her usual seat, she greeted her by saying “I loved your new post, I’m sure my brother’s happy about how good he comes across in it”.
Superstitions were a big part of ice hockey, and after basically growing up next to the rink thanks to her brother, Estelle was not exactly disinclined to it – especially with regards to her regular seat. It had to be the same one, every time.
After sliding into her seat, she turned to Olivia. “In case the Kraken win today, what are the chances we’re going to Ross’ afterparty?”, she asked, as Olivia handed her a typical Seattle-Latte. She took it and pulled the blonde woman into a deep hug that was reserved only for the people Estelle really considered her friends.
